We created and maintain a travel blog to draw traffic and ultimately send it to the main site. The travel blog now attracts over 13,000 visitors a month providing valuable sales leads.
Mahindra Homestays is a unique Indian accommodation network. Launched in 2008 and initially targeting the UK and Indian tourist markets, it brings together a large number of premium family homes that have quality guest rooms. They have properties throughout India, for example check out their Coorg homestay selection. As part of their online marketing strategy, Dot Tourism were asked to design and maintain a blog to draw traffic and ultimately send it to the main site.
We created a branded blog and developed content strategically to appeal to different target audiences and niches, from yoga lovers to dog owners interested in pet-friendly accommodation.
We used keyword techniques to capture search traffic on certain useful terms – particularly long-tail keywords where we identified an opportunity to generate plenty of success . Furthermore, a series of ‘things to do’ articles focusing on the regions where Mahindra Homestays have properties brings in valuable organic traffic. The blog is returned on the first page of search results for almost all destinations which have been targeted with a 'things to do' feature.
Competitions such as our monthly photographic contest allow us to connect with our audience. Voting for the best user image is frequently closely fought with short listed photographers reaching out through their own social networks to encourage voters. Recent contests have attracted over 1,000 votes.
The blog currently receives over 13,000 visitors a month and delivers engaged visitors to the main website. The referral traffic delivered from the blog is an engaged audience, spending longer on the site and viewing more pages than other traffic sources. Convenient contact forms located on the blog also deliver a constant stream of leads.
There are now over 360 articles which are featured on the blog, and planned content for the rest of the year will allow us to expand the keyword inventory we target.
