DayTripFinder

Summary

We’ve developed our own site where tourists, travellers and daytrippers share their views on great days out. Your guide to over 4,000 visitor attractions.

Background

We are always looking for new ideas and inspiration so we can pick the best places to go. Time and money is precious. We want quick access to quality days out that bring fun and thrills at a fair price.

So we created DayTripFinder to bring together reviews and ratings for all the UK’s attractions by the people who know them best: the visitors.

The site is an organic, growing directory of attraction reviews and information, developed and nurtured by its community.

While there are other websites that cover similar content we felt that those which focus on the visitor attraction sector don’t necessarily provide a good user experience. Out of date listings, hard to navigate content and irrelevant advertising were some of the faults we wanted to ensure that daytripfinder.co.uk avoids. We've got a lot to do to achieve that. Stay tuned!

Results

Within the first few months of launch we received a lot of interest from attraction owners and were delighted with their positive feedback to the site.

With the user experience in mind we wanted to make it as easy as possible to people to interact with the site. We have used Facebook integration visitors can log onto the site and start sharing their reviews immediately.

The site includes over 4,000 listings. So far over 150 attractions are updating and managing their own listings. As well as providing a way for attractions to reach new customers this will help keep the attraction information up-to-date and accurate for visitors.

We have been reaching out to attractions and tourism offices through Twitter and DayTripFinder with 2,500 followers with whom we actively engage and converse with, building up brand awareness and providing assistance to attractions registered on the site.
